Day 95 Alice Springs to Kings Canyon

Had a big day today as we had about 480km trip to Kings Canyon. Originally we hoped to do the Mereenie Loop which is about 200k of gravel but road reports were not good so we took the other option.

Arrived in Kings about 3pm and had the pleasure of meeting the high vis shirt guy but he was missing the "wand of power" . He just lectured us about speeding in the park and all he managed was hold up traffic.

Otherwise nice park but I would go for a ensuite site as the hot water in the amenities was never hot. We showered in the van all the time.

Next morning it was off to do the Kings Canyon Rim walk - its about 6km with the first 500m being the stairs of death - sure got the heart rate up but we survived to do the whole lot. Almost a moonscape at times with all the weathered sandstone. There is also a short walk into the bottom of the gorge where you can sit and enjoy King Creek.

Little bit warmer than Alice Springs but could use the A/C. Very comfortable!

On to Uluru tomorrow - one of the bucket list coming up.
