Day 25 Exmouth to House Creek Rest Area

Its moving time once more. We’ve said good bye to the coast and its east we go , heading inland as we make our way to Karajini National Park. The country changes almost straight away as you leave the coast and much of the country we travelled through was cattle stations. Some of them such as Bullara and Cheela Station have taken advantage of the tourist trade offering both farm stays and cafes to drop into with “great coffee”. We headed back onto the North Coast Highway stopping off at the Nanutarra Roadhouse which is just before the turn off to Tom Price. About 60km out of Nanutarra we found a great free camp – House Creek Rest Area. The main area has good facilities but it was pretty hot ( 35C) so we headed further down the gravel and set up under the shade of the beautiful white gums. They have had recent rain so it is very green with lots of grass around – still plenty of flies but kept them at bay with the trusty fly veil. Russ put the drone up again so stayed tuned for the next lot of movies. As night settled in , the flies left us and all the other bugs turned up for a party! Minimal light, the bug zapper and the mosquito coil were in high demand.

We then indulged in our favourite spot the satellite game. There was a cement table and chairs next to us and it was quite comfortable to lie on the table and look up at the stars/satellites. Russ got to 18!

Very peaceful place …………………………………..Tomorrow Tom Price.
