Day 22 Warroora Station to Exmouth

Left pretty early this morning as we wanted to avoid any traffic coming into the station. The road is only  one  vehicle wide in places and there are not a lot of places to pass each other especially as you get closer to the beach. Stopped at the entrance to the station to put some air back in all the tyres. Exmouth is only a couple of hours up the road and sits on one side of a peninsula which is bordered on the southern side by the Cape Range National Park and the northern section of the Ningaloo Marine Park. A lot of miners use this as their beach getaway spot but it is also home to the Learmouth RAAF base and the Harald E Holt Communication Station ( more about that later) .

Exmouth is a real contrast of young and old. As you drive around town , you can see the old fibro houses nestled away in the back streets but as you get close to the marina, all of a sudden you have beautiful houses on canals that lead into it and the 5 star resort is just around the corner. Tourism is also a huge industry here with lots of companies vying for the people's money, Currently the WA government is offering a 50 % subsidy to a lot of companies to get people coming back.

We have booked a whale shark tour for Sunday and we were able to take advantage of that offer. Will keep looking for others as we move north.

Tomorrow we will be have a look at Cape Range National Park . Lots of camping sites are available along the coast but there are also lots of beautiful spots to stop for the day.

Exmouth has the big Prawn
Termites Galore
Ningaloo just goes on and on
