Day 79 Bargara to Hervey Bay

We left Bargara and headed south to Hervey Bay where we will meet up with friends to spend a week on Fraser Island. We decided to go a couple of days early and teat ourselves to a lovely apartment stay at Shelley Beach. It's been 10 years since we were last here, and things have changed dramatically since that time. The place has grown a lot and is no longer the sleepy beachside town it used to be.

Our apartment was beachfront, so it was very relaxing to look out and see the ocean while enjoying the space and have a wander. The whale watching is a big tourist attraction, so you see a lot of that around.

After a couple of nights there, we moved onto the Windmill Caravan Park to catch up with everyone and start preparations for our week on the island. The weather was good for one day then the heavens opened, and it absolutely poured all Saturday while we were trying to shop and get ready to catch the ferry on the Sunday. It was great to catch up with all of our friends after 3 months away.
